About Our Client:
Our client, a global leader in the manufacturing and technology sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Automation Engineer to lead their automation projects in Galway. This role focuses on developing and implementing cutting-edge automation solutions to drive production efficiency and optimise processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced automation systems for production processes.
  • Oversee the programming and configuration of PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, ensuring seamless integration and operational efficiency.
  • Manage complex automation projects from conception through to completion, ensuring all goals, timelines, and budgets are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced issues related to automation systems and equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality departments, to drive automation improvements.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies in all automation activities.
  • Evaluate and implement the latest automation technologies and methodologies to maintain a competitive edge in production.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of automation processes, system updates, and project progress.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) as an Automation Engineer, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Expertise in PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale automation projects and manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
