Maintenance Manager

Location: Co. Down
Salary: £40,000–£60,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday dayshift (occasional callouts when required)

Are you an experienced Maintenance Manager looking to join a well-established food manufacturing business that's investing in its people, processes and facilities?

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading food manufacturer for a hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering function across a busy production site. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering leader who enjoys improving plant performance, developing teams and driving continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role

You'll be responsible for leading and developing a team of six engineers and technicians, ensuring the site delivers maximum equipment reliability, minimal downtime and a proactive maintenance culture.

Working closely with Production, Quality and Operations, you'll play a key role in maintaining efficient production while identifying opportunities to improve performance, reduce costs and support long-term sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of six engineers and technicians through coaching, performance reviews, training and succession planning.
  • Ensure high levels of equipment reliability and production uptime across the site.
  • Monitor and improve engineering KPIs including downtime, MTTR and OEE.
  • Develop and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency, reduce energy consumption and improve plant performance.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Ensure full compliance with electrical safety standards, food safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory to minimise downtime.
  • Negotiate pricing and manage procurement of spare parts and engineering equipment.
  • Monitor and report on utility costs including electricity, gas and diesel, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Support the company's sustainability programme as an active project team member.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional departments to achieve business objectives.

About You

  • Previous experience in a Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager or Senior Maintenance Supervisor position within manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop engineering teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance systems.
  • Experience working with engineering KPIs including OEE, MTTR and downtime reduction.
  • Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis experience.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing maintenance budgets, spare parts and supplier relationships.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
