The Opportunity

On behalf of a leading building services engineering consultancy in Cork, we are seeking a motivated Graduate Mechanical Engineer with a specific interest in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems. This is an entry-level position offering a structured path toward Chartership and hands-on experience in high-spec commercial and industrial projects.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of engineers, supporting the design and delivery of sustainable mechanical solutions for the pharma, healthcare, and commercial sectors.

Core Responsibilities

Working under the guidance of Senior Mechanical Engineers, you will assist in the following areas:

  • Design & Drafting: Developing 2D and 3D design layouts for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.

  • Technical Calculations: Assisting with heat loss/gain calculations, pipe sizing, and ductwork pressure drop analysis.

  • Project Support: Aiding in the preparation of technical specifications, tender documents, and equipment schedules.

  • Site Surveys: Attending site visits and surveys to assess existing mechanical services and monitor installation progress.

  • Sustainability: Contributing to the design of energy-efficient systems in line with Part L of the Building Regulations and LEED/BREEAM standards.

  • Documentation: Managing technical submittals and O&M manuals for project handovers.

Candidate Profile

  • Education: A Level 8 Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; exposure to Revit MEP or BIM software during academic projects is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge: A strong academic foundation in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.

  • Aptitude: A proactive learner with excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in the building services industry.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary project team.

  • Essentials: Must be eligible to work full-time in Ireland.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: €35,000 – €40,000 per annum (DOE).
