A well-established and growing construction company is seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to build a long-term career in Quantity Surveying. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, working closely with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider management team.

 

The Role

You will gain practical experience across the commercial management of live construction projects, including measurement, procurement, cost control, subcontractor management and contract administration.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with measurements and quantity take-offs from drawings.
  • Support project cost tracking, invoices, variations and expenditure.
  • Assist with rates analysis and researching material and market costs.
  • Obtain subcontractor and supplier quotations and prepare comparison sheets.
  • Assist with procurement and subcontractor management.
  • Support communication between clients, suppliers, subcontractors and project teams.
  • Assist with contract administration and maintaining commercial records.
  • Maintain organised project documentation, including drawings, specifications, valuations and invoices.
  • Support the Senior QS in identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Gain exposure to all areas of Quantity Surveying through structured, hands-on training.

 

Requirements

  • Degree or third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Recent graduate looking to begin a career in Quantity Surveying.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of Bluebeam, Revit or similar measurement software is advantageous.
  • Ability and willingness to learn how to read drawings, specifications and commercial documentation.
  • Full driving licence is not essential, but would be an advantage for occasional site visits.
  • Previous experience is not required – full training will be provided.
