Maintenance Technician – 6–12 Month Contract

We’re working with a well-established manufacturing business that invests heavily in its equipment, people, and continuous improvement. They’re looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join the team on a 6–12 month temporary contract, supporting production reliability across a busy and modern factory environment.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys fault-finding, problem solving, and keeping machinery performing at its best – ideal if you’re available for contract work and want to step straight into a fast-paced engineering setting.
Working Hours
– Monday to Thursday – 8:30am to 5:00pm
– Friday – 8:00am to 12:00pm
– 39 hours per week
– Flexibility required to meet business needs
– Overtime available
– Call-out is very rare
The Role
You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of plant and production equipment, ensuring operations run efficiently and safely.
Key responsibilities include:
– Installing, modifying, and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
– Diagnosing faults through inspection, drawings, and technical specifications
– Responding quickly to breakdowns and restoring equipment to operation
– Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing
– Identifying and suggesting continuous improvement opportunities
– Liaising closely with production and keeping them informed on progress
– Coordinating replacement parts or repairs where required
You’ll report into senior leadership within the production function and work closely with a small technical team, including R&D support.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
– Completed apprenticeship in mechatronics or electrical engineering, or HNC / NVQ Level 3 equivalent
– Strong experience repairing and maintaining CNC machinery
– Proven fault-finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems
– Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
– Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
– Strong mechanical aptitude
– Multi-skilled maintenance background
Desirable:
– PLC experience
