The Opportunity

We are representing a leading food manufacturing facility in the Dublin area, seeking an experienced, multi-skilled Maintenance Technician. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of production and packaging lines, focusing on both proactive and reactive maintenance.

This role operates on a shift pattern (days and evenings) and offers a highly competitive salary for skilled technicians within the food industry.

Core Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise across the manufacturing site.

  • Preventative and Reactive Maintenance: Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks and respond quickly to breakdowns on high-speed production machinery, packaging equipment, and utility systems (e.g., refrigeration, compressed air).

  • Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical faults on PLCs, drives, sensors, motors, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in strict adherence to site Health & Safety policies and Food Safety/Hygiene standards. Complete detailed maintenance reports and records.

  • Continuous Improvement: Work collaboratively with the production and engineering teams to identify and implement improvements to machinery efficiency, reliability, and lifespan.

  • Fabrication: Perform basic fabrication, welding, and plumbing tasks required for repairs and modifications.

Candidate Profile & Compensation

Essential Criteria

  • Recognised qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, National Craft Certificate, or Degree) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or Engineer, ideally within a fast-paced food, FMCG, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

  • Proven multi-skilled capability (strong blend of electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills).

  • Experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) – basic fault-finding and input/output tracing is required.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts (days and evenings) as required by the rota.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: €60,000 – €70,000 per annum (Negotiable based on depth of multi-skilled experience)

  • Shift Allowance: Specific shift patterns include an attractive allowance (details available upon application).
