Mechanical Design Engineer (Cork)
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering firm in Cork. This role is focused on the design and development of complex steel structures and mechanical systems.
This position offers the opportunity to lead design projects from concept through to fabrication, working within a technically advanced and collaborative R&D environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Structural & Mechanical Design: Develop detailed 3D models and assemblies for structural steelwork and mechanical components using Autodesk Inventor and Tekla Structures.
- Technical Drafting: Produce high-quality 2D fabrication drawings, including GA drawings, assembly instructions, and detailed GD&T specifications.
- Project Management: Lead the design phase of bespoke engineering projects, ensuring timelines are met and designs are optimized for both performance and cost-efficiency.
- Collaboration: Liaise closely with the fabrication shop and site teams to resolve design-related issues during the build and installation phases.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with Eurocodes, building regulations, and client-specific technical requirements.
Candidate Profile
- Education: Degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in a mechanical or structural design role.
- Software Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and Tekla Structures is essential.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding standards, and material properties.
- Attributes: A detail-oriented problem solver with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Compensation
- Salary Range: €50,000 – €60,000+ per annum (Negotiable based on depth of Tekla/Inventor expertise).
