The Opportunity

Talent Curve Recruitment is managing a search for a Mechanical Project Engineer (HVAC) to join a building services and mechanical contracting firm in Cork. Our client is a leading provider of high-spec heating, ventilation, and air conditioning solutions for commercial, industrial, and clinical developments across the Munster region.

This role is ideal for a mid-level engineer with a strong foundation in building services who wants to take technical ownership of HVAC packages from initial design review through to site execution and handover.

Core Responsibilities

  • Project Engineering: Coordinate the technical delivery of HVAC packages (including AHUs, VRF, chillers, and ductwork), ensuring they are completed on schedule and to specification.

  • Technical Review: Review and verify mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment schedules to ensure alignment with design intent and NZEB standards.

  • Site Coordination: Liaise between the design office and site teams to resolve spatial clashes and coordinate sub-contractors (plumbers, duct-workers, and commissioning technicians).

  • Quality & BCAR: Oversee on-site quality control inspections, manage pressure testing records, and compile the technical documentation required for BCAR certification.

  • Procurement Support: Assist with material take-offs and coordinate technical submittals for the procurement of specialist plant and long-lead HVAC equipment.

  • Health & Safety: Ensure all installation activities are executed safely in accordance with site safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments (RAMS).

Candidate Profile

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a relevant Senior Trade background (Refrigeration/Plumbing) with project engineering experience.

  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in a mechanical project or site engineering role, with a strong focus on commercial or industrial HVAC systems.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of ventilation design, water systems, air balancing, and building management systems (BMS).

  • Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Project is essential; familiarity with Revit MEP is highly desirable.

  • Logistics: Full, clean Irish driving licence.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: €50,000 – €60,000 per annum (Negotiable based on experience).
