Mechanical Project Engineer – Pharmaceutical Sector (Cork)
The Opportunity
Talent Curve Recruitment is managing a private mandate for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join a premier engineering consultancy and contracting firm in Cork. Our client is a specialist in delivering high-specification mechanical services, high-purity piping, and HVAC solutions for the global pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors.
This role offers the opportunity to lead complex engineering packages on Tier 1 pharma sites in the Munster region, managing projects from initial design review through to final commissioning and validation.
Core Responsibilities

Project Lifecycle Management: Take technical ownership of mechanical packages, ensuring delivery aligns with project schedules, budget constraints, and client-specific standards.

Technical Design & Review: Oversee the development of P&IDs, equipment specifications, and 3D Revit models, ensuring all designs meet rigorous pharmaceutical compliance (cGMP).

High-Purity Systems: Lead the engineering and installation of critical services, including purified water (PW), water-for-injection (WFI), clean steam, and process gases.

HVAC & Cleanrooms: Manage the installation and balancing of complex HVAC systems, focusing on HEPA filtration, pressure regimes, and environmental control for cleanroom environments.

Procurement & Vendor Liaison: Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manage the procurement of specialist plant and long-lead equipment.

Quality & Validation: Oversee the QA/QC process, including the management of weld logs, pressure testing records, and the preparation of Turnover Packages (TOPs) for IQ/OQ/PQ validation.

Safety Leadership: Ensure all site-based engineering activities adhere to the highest EHS standards, reviewing RAMS and conducting regular technical safety audits.
Candidate Profile

Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (Level 8 preferred).

Experience: 3–7 years of experience in mechanical project engineering, with a proven track record within the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Medical Device sectors.

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of high-purity piping standards (ASME BPE), HVAC systems, and Building Control Amendment Regulations (BCAR).

Software Mastery: Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Project; familiarity with Revit MEP and BIM coordination workflows is a distinct advantage.

Attributes: A methodical problem-solver with exceptional technical report-writing skills and the ability to manage multi-disciplinary stakeholders.

Logistics: Full, clean Irish driving licence.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: €45,000 – €65,000+ per annum (Negotiable based on depth of Pharma sector experience).
