Job Description
We are partnering with a Tier-1 international mechanical engineering contractor to secure an experienced Mechanical Supervisor for a flagship life sciences development in Cork. Following major multi-million euro project wins across Ireland and continental Europe, this company is expanding its site leadership teams significantly.
This is a vital on-site leadership position. You will take direct responsibility for coordinating site crews, managing daily craft labour execution, and driving high-purity piping installations safely on time and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Coordination: Supervise daily on-site activities for direct trade labour (pipefitters, welders) and specialised sub-contractors within your assigned zone.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor daily progress against the master construction programme and allocate mechanical resources efficiently to avoid site delays.
- Weld & Installation Oversight: Oversee the installation of high-purity process piping, coded manual welding, and automated orbital welding operations.
- Drawing & Isometric Reviews: Interpret complex P&ID schematics, isometric fabrication drawings, and structural details to instruct site crews accurately.
- QA/QC & Testing: Assist with systematic field walk-downs, yellowline P&ID verifications, and prepare piping systems for hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing.
- EHS Leadership: Enforce strict on-site health and safety compliance, conduct daily toolbox talks, and maintain a zero-incident safety culture on the shop floor.
Requirements
- Trade Qualification: Full mechanical trade qualification (Pipefitter, Welder, or Plumber) is essential.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5+ years of experience working as a Chargehand, Foreman, or Mechanical Supervisor on industrial construction sites.
- Sector Exposure: Proven track record working within highly regulated sectors (Pharmaceutical, Biopharma, Data Centres, or Semiconductors).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of high-purity utility piping systems, cleanroom protocols, and hygienic installation standards.
- Logistics: Full clean driving licence, residency in Ireland, and the unrestricted right to work locally.
What’s on Offer
- Competitive base €80,000+, tailored strictly to your level of experience.
- Fully expensed company vehicle or premium car allowance plus fuel card.
- Comprehensive corporate benefits package including health insurance, pension scheme, and performance incentives.
- Clear career progression pathways into senior field management and superintendent positions.
