The Opportunity
Talent Curve Recruitment is partnering with a highly respected mechanical engineering contractor executing major commercial, industrial, and residential projects throughout the Mid-West. They are seeking an experienced, hands-on Plumbing Chargehand to lead a dedicated team of pipefitters, plumbers, and apprentices on a key site in Co. Limerick.
This is the perfect step for a senior, qualified plumber who is looking to step up into a leadership capacity while remaining active on the tools. You will act as the vital link between the site management team and the installation crews, ensuring all works are executed to the highest standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Direct daily site activities for plumbing crews and apprentices, allocating tasks to maintain peak productivity.
- Installation Management: Oversee the high-quality installation of commercial plumbing systems, heating, drainage, and utility piping networks.
- Drawing Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret schematic layouts, isometric drawings, and architectural blueprints to guide installation teams.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular work inspections to ensure installations comply with Irish building regulations, safety standards, and project specifications.
- Safety Coordination: Enforce strict workplace health and safety protocols on-site, ensuring tool-box talks are conducted and correct PPE is utilised.
- Material Control: Monitor stock levels on-site, coordinate material call-offs ahead of schedule, and minimise wastage.
- Progress Reporting: Collaborate closely with the Mechanical Site Manager to provide progress updates and flag potential bottleneck issues early.
What You Need to Succeed
- Qualifications: A recognised Standards Based Apprenticeship (SOLAS/FÁS or equivalent National Craft Certificate) in Plumbing.
- Experience: Proven track record working as a Senior Plumber or working Chargehand on medium-to-large scale commercial or industrial builds.
- Technical Knowledge: Exceptional understanding of modern plumbing systems, mechanical plant installations, and commercial heating systems.
- Leadership Skills: Strong organisational capabilities with a direct, positive approach to supervising site labor and mentoring apprentices.
- Certifications: Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates are required.
