Company Overview:

A leading main contractor in the Irish construction sector is seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to take the lead on a significant educational development project. Our client is well-regarded for delivering high-quality projects across multiple sectors, including large-scale public works and complex commercial builds. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage the delivery of a major educational facility with over two years remaining in the project timeline.

Role Overview:

The Senior Site Manager will be responsible for overseeing all on-site activities for a large new build and extension project. This is a pivotal role, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You’ll act as the primary point of contact on-site, managing a large team of direct staff, subcontractors, and liaising with the client and design teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage all on-site construction activities for the educational build project, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining high standards.
  • Lead the site team, including direct labour and subcontractors, to ensure productivity, safety, and quality.
  • Act as the key site contact for the client, design team, and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and proactive communication.
  • Develop and manage site programmes, schedules, and resources to achieve project milestones.
  • Oversee daily site operations including labour management, material procurement, and equipment allocation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety policies, conducting regular inspections and mitigating any potential risks.
  • Monitor project progress, addressing any issues or delays, and reporting regularly to the Company Director and Contracts Manager.
  • Manage the coordination and scheduling of subcontractors, ensuring work is completed in line with project requirements and specifications.
  • Oversee the quality control of all site works, ensuring compliance with building regulations and best practices.
  • Handle all site administration tasks including site diaries, progress reports, and ensuring company procedures are followed.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and regulatory bodies as needed to ensure compliance and address any site-specific requirements.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Site Management role with a main contractor.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale educational or public works projects is highly advantageous.
  • Strong background in construction, either from a trades or engineering perspective, with experience delivering projects from the ground up through to handover.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, industry standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Ability to manage complex site programmes, schedules, and resource allocations.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills, with a proactive and problem-solving approach.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Full, clean driving licence
