Setting Out Engineer

Site Engineer – Residential Development, Dublin 5

Project Overview
We are currently engaged with a leading Irish contractor involved in a prestigious €25million mixed-use residential project in Dublin 5.

The Role
As a Site Engineer on this project, you will play an essential role in ensuring the successful delivery of the development, ensuring work is completed on time, to the highest standards, and within budget. You will work in collaboration with a dedicated project team, including senior engineers, quality managers, health & safety officers, and subcontractors, to ensure all tasks are completed in line with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising with Key Stakeholders

    • Senior Engineer to ensure smooth project progression.

    • Site Clerk to assist with the requisition of materials and plant.

    • Junior Quantity Surveyors to support re-measurement and cost control.

    • Quality & Environmental Manager to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 & ISO 14001.

    • Site Manager and Subcontractors to ensure coordination and workflow.

    • Health & Safety Officer to support the implementation of the safety management system.

  • Setting Out & Checking

    • Perform site setting out as per engineering specifications and ensure all work complies with design requirements.

  • Coordination & Scheduling

    • Coordinate subcontractors' daily activities and maintain a detailed site diary, documenting manpower levels and daily tasks.

    • Develop and update daily work schedules to ensure project milestones are met.

    • Manage material requisitions, including ordering steel reinforcement and other site materials.

  • Quality Control

    • Perform concrete cube sampling, recording the location and submitting for testing.

    • Carry out other essential quality checks and inspections as necessary.

    • Assist in maintaining the drawing register and ensure drawings are distributed and implemented correctly.

  • Leadership & Reporting

    • Provide clear and effective leadership to the site team, ensuring professional conduct at all times.

    • Attend and contribute to weekly management meetings, providing updates on project progress and issues.

Key Requirements

  • A Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar engineering role, with exposure to residential or commercial developments.

  • Proficiency with design software and engineering tools.

  • Strong working knowledge of setting out instruments such as EDMs, Total Stations, Laser Levels, and Dumpy Levels.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong team player with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders on-site.

  • Full understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other industry-standard health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
