The Opportunity
An established international construction contractor specialising in Critical Environments, including Data Centres, Life Sciences, Aviation, High Value Manufacturing and Critical Logistics, is seeking an experienced Site / Senior Engineer to join a high-performing project team in Skien, Norway.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile projects for blue-chip clients within a technically demanding and stimulating construction environment.
Reporting to: Project Manager / Contracts Manager
The Role
As Site / Senior Engineer, you will manage the technical and engineering aspects of construction works on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, to programme, and in accordance with drawings, specifications and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site technical and engineering requirements, including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and design team workshops.
- Implement and maintain quality control measures in line with the project quality and BCAR requirements.
- Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners and quantity surveyors throughout project delivery.
- Support the Project Manager / Contracts Manager in delivering works on programme, within budget and to a high standard.
- Identify information gaps and develop practical solutions in collaboration with project and design teams.
- Maintain strong working relationships with the wider construction team and subcontractors.
- Manage setting out, surveying, levelling and site control systems.
- Support temporary works coordination and ensure technical requirements are properly managed.
About You
You will ideally have:
- A third-level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in a Site Engineer or Senior Engineer role on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, inspection and test plans, quality documentation and defect prevention.
- Excellent setting out, surveying and levelling skills, with experience managing site control systems.
- Good knowledge of construction methods, techniques and site engineering practices.
- Strong numeracy, technical and report-writing skills.
- The ability to plan and execute works in line with budget and programme requirements.
- Sound judgement and the confidence to make informed decisions and escalate issues when required.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Good IT skills, including MS Project or a similar scheduling package.
